Wall balls are a staple of CrossFit programming and the final station in Hyrox. A proper wall ball — one with a consistent diameter, minimal bounce, and a durable shell — makes a meaningful difference to your training efficiency.
Hyrox Standards
Hyrox wall balls are 100 reps: 6 kg (men’s open) or 4 kg (women’s open), touching a 10-foot target. The specific demands are endurance and consistent technique, not maximal power. Train with your competition weight at the competition height.
Home Gym Recommendation
For CrossFit home gym use: 20 lb (men) or 14 lb (women) covers the majority of RX programming. If you do a lot of Hyrox-specific training, get the exact competition weight (14 lb / 9 lb) as a second ball for race-specific work.
