Overview
Eleiko has been manufacturing Olympic barbells in Sweden since 1957. The WPPO bar is the flagship of their competition line, approved by the International Weightlifting Federation and used at the Olympic Games, World Championships, and elite competitions worldwide.
If you’ve ever felt a bar “load” perfectly at the bottom of a clean — that quality has a name, and it’s often Eleiko.
Who It’s For
The WPPO bar is for serious Olympic weightlifters, coaches outfitting a dedicated weightlifting facility, or athletes who train exclusively for competition. It’s overkill for CrossFit programming where the bar is used across a wide variety of movements.
Whip and Feel
The 28mm shaft combined with Eleiko’s precise steel specification produces a whip characteristic that coaches and athletes recognise. The bar bends predictably and returns energy to the lift — a subtle but meaningful advantage when training high-level technique.
Verdict
The best Olympic barbell money can buy. If budget is no object and your programming is centred on snatch and clean & jerk, this is the bar. For most CrossFit athletes and home gym builders, the performance premium over a $300–$500 bar is not practically meaningful.
